People who are especially talented in the Consistency theme are keenly aware of the need to treat people the same. They try to treat everyone in the world fairly by setting up clear rules and adhering to them.

I chose the sun and moon for this picture because it reminds me of Consistency. Throughout time the sun and moon have kept predictable and unchanging patterns. They are dependable to the end! We keep time based on them.
They are the perfect example of fairness!
"Your Father in heaven causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:45
What a whirlwind of a week! My new book had the first edition come out! It sold out in the first 24 hours! And now the VERY cool thing is people are posting their pictures with it. I still can't believe that it's done, let alone on different continents right now!
Thank you, for supporting this project! My prayer is that it will get into the hands of Strengths coaches and enthusiasts so they can better understand each theme, and how it manifests in their own lives. Each one of those pictures has a back story!
One of my favorite funny ones is Ideation. Before I started sketching, I told the Gallup Certified Strengths Coaches that I had only 2 more sketches to go: Consistency and Ideation. To finish up those themes, I asked if they'd like to be a part of a think-tank so we could brainstorm them as a group before I started thinking about the direction I wanted to take on each one.
But IMMEDIATELY, I had 50 people in my Ideation brainstorming group! They were throwing out ideas left and right! You couldn't even believe it! They shouted out ideas like, "It's like fireworks!" and "It's like a firehose that never shuts off!", "Popcorn!", "A run away train of thought!"... Ideas were BURSTING!
As they gave me ideas, I just started sketching them...furiously! I tried to include them all! But the one that really got me was Florence Hardy's comment, "It's like mushrooms!"
Mushrooms??? OK, you got me stumped there!
"You know, They can appear and pop up in numbers!"
So, of course I had to add add some mushrooms for Florence. The definition of Ideation: "People exceptionally talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated with ideas. They are able to find connection between seemingly disparate phenomena."
Oh, Consistency... I started out working with 3 amazing people who really helped me think deeply about that strength. I struggled with it because it was my #34. And I think it may be one of the favorite ones I drew because I came to appreciate that particular strength more through this process!
Thanks Bob Van Baren, for posting your picture with my book! You were the very first one to receive it in the mail!
The last of my theme sketches...Consistency.
I have to admit, this one was a struggle for me. Consistency is also my #34, so I didn't think I could relate very well to this one. But this theme may have just tied up my whole idea of StrengthsFinder into a nice bow. Here's what I learned.
I learned that we are all imperfect people- with a creator that is 100% of each of these themes. How blessed are we to hold a small piece of God in each one of our lives. The ultimate, pure definition of each theme is Jesus. In Consistency, I saw the precision of the sun rising in the East and setting in the West each day...EVERY day. Without fail, the world is balanced in every way. We breathe in oxygen that energizes our body. That oxygen is sent to every cell, providing life. When we exhale, we release a poisonous gas called CO2. We can't live on it, but plants need it in order to produce the oxygen we create. It's these kind of critical balances that maintain life.
People who are especially talented in the Consistency theme are keenly aware of the need to treat people the same. They try to treat everyone in the world fairly by setting up clear rules and adhering to them. They are interested in the groups needs, and love rules and policies that promote predictability.
In a child, you may hear things like, "It's not fair." They will defend the underdog to promote equity.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., explained it when he spoke these words: "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'"
"For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous." James 2:1, 8-9
"For by the grace given me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned." Romans 12:3
I hope you have enjoyed this journey through all 34 of the StrengthsFinder themes. I have found myself falling in love with each theme- yes, even my #34. I actually ended this journey so grateful for each of these wonderful gifts that God has given us.
Go ROCK YOUR STRENGTHS!
