Joseph as Responsibility®
Christmas was the most dramatic event on earth up to that time.
God had to tamper with the laws of biology and used a virgin.
He manipulated the laws of astronomy to pull a star out of its orbit.
God suspended the laws of gravity when He sent angels to proclaim the birth of Christ to shepherds.
But when it came to finding a father for His Son He picked unassuming Joseph. Why? Joseph would be a responsible father.
God is looking for people who are willing to be and do what He has called them to do without fanfare and acclaim.
If you are not the star can you still let your little light shine?
If you can’t sing like Caruso can you make a joyful noise unto the Lord?
If you can’t perform miracles can you still be faithful.
If you can’t roll away the stone can you be willing to show up like the women on Easter Sunday morning?
Responsibility® does not make the front page of a newspaper but it is the stability this world needs.
Responsibility® does not need applause or pats on the back to be of service.
Jesus spent most of His time dealing with our responsibilities rather than our rights. "Go the second mile”, He taught. He wanted us to forgive, love, be kind and pick up our cross and deny ourselves.
Responsibility® finishes what it starts.
Responsibility® offers no excuses and does not spend time looking for someone to blame.
If I shoot an arrow at the bulls eye and miss I shouldn’t be blaming the bulls eye when it’s me with the problem.
Jesus was the ultimate in Responsibility®. He prayed, “Not My will but Thine be done.” He went to the cross and died for us.
“The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary. The blood that gives me strength from day to day, it shall never lose it’s power.
It reaches to the highest mountain.
It flows to the lowest valley.
The blood that gives me strength from day to day, it will never lose it’s power.”
